Barrie & Marion Reeves - Owners

Barrie Reeves worked for the Clayton family from 1958 to 1966 and is forever grateful for the retail business education he received from the Claytons.

Barrie married Dick and Ann Fitchett's middle daughter Marion in 1965. Later that year, Dick asked Barrie to "Come and polish up the handle on the big brass door" and learn the building supply business. 

Barrie and Marion then joined the business in 1966 and purchased the business in 1971. Gibsons Building Supplies moved to the current location in 1972 from lower Gibsons. The Sechelt location was purchased in 1984. Gibsons Building Supplies has grown from 5 employees to over 65 proudly serving the needs of the Sunshine Coast. 

Barrie and Marion are delighted that daughter Julie Reeves is taking over the reins of Gibsons Building Supplies.

Julie is the managing director of Gibsons Building Supplies, Julie's role is to provide leadership, focus and direction. She also oversees hiring, opening/monitoring charge accounts, supplier relations, product assortment and placement. Julie drives the daily changes within the company and she is also responsible for business related decision-making.

Dayton Point - Gibsons Store Manager

August 2007

Dayton started at our Gibsons location in 2007 and worked in the yard for a year before he became shipping and receiving supervisor in 2008.

Dayton overseas all yard operations, including hiring, training, safety, scheduling deliveries, crane rentals and forklift rentals. He also orchestrates all incoming and outgoing stock.

Mark Nielsen - Senior Purchaser / Contractor Sales

January 10th, 1990

Mark started at our Gibsons location in 1990 at the sales counter. Two years later Mark became a floor manager at the Gibsons location and in 2009 Mark became the senior commodity purchaser for both locations. 

Mark is also in charge of contractor sales at our Gibsons location including lumber, plywood, roofing, specialty building materials, trusses and engineered floor systems.

Tim Mckenzie

Tim started at our Gibsons location in 2011 and worked in the yard for a short time before he became a Truck Driver. In 2015 Tim became shipping supervisor in our Gibsons location. Tim oversees all yard operations, including hiring, training, safety, scheduling deliveries, crane and forklift rentals.

Richard Connor - Gibsons Floor Supervisor

December 1983

Richard started at our Gibsons location in 1983, while still a high school student.

Richard became a floor supervisor for the Gibsons location in 2009. He is now in charge of our power tool department and is very well versed in all departments.

Murray Wilson - Sechelt Store Manager

January 5th, 1980

Murray started at our Gibsons location in 1980 and worked in the yard for a year, he then moved inside to the sales counter and took care of the power tool department.

In 1984 Murray became the store manager for our Gibsons location, and then in 2015 he moved to our Sechelt location.

Al Nielsen - Sechelt Plumbing Department Manager

August 1991

Al started at our Sechelt location in 1991 managing the Plumbing Department.

Besides having a vast knowledge of plumbing and underground sprinkler systems, Al specializes in kitchen and bathroom cabinets, countertops and closet designs.
